Monday Motivation: Transitioning Back to Reality

It’s Monday! This is likely one of the most difficult Mondays of the year, as we get over the long Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekend. Our bellies full and our wallets empty, it’s time to get back to work, and back to the daily grind.

I personally have thrown routine out the window lately, and after a long-weekend vacation in Montreal followed by the long holiday weekend, I am ready to reintroduce things like the gym, smoothies, and a normal sleep schedule back into my life.

  • I had this healthy smoothie for breakfast this morning. Did you know that yogurt plus oatmeal equals a complete protein? Mine was a little too thick, but still oh so good.

  • Self magazine always has my back when I’m feeling less than motivated at the gym. I think they read my mind when they pinned these 10 boredom-busting treadmill workouts on Pinterest yesterday

  • And JUST in time for the holidays, Gina Homolka of skinnytaste.com has a recipe for Skinny Cranberry Bliss Bars that I must try. These were my favorite holiday treat back when I worked at Starbucks, many eons ago

In conclusion, this Cyber Monday I am keeping the coffee flowing, and I have my gym bag packed and ready for tonight. I am motivated! How about you?

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

AWKWARD
–          Somewhere in the past few weeks I stumbled upon this website called SoupNextDoor, which serves as forum for foodies to host dinners or tasting events, often in their own homes. Since I’m just getting in tune with my foodie tendencies I have to admit I’m intrigued, but every time I get an email from the website I feel creeped out at the thought of entering a stranger’s home for dinner. Am I alone? Is this concept weird? I plan to keep my eye out for interesting restaurant hosted events.
–          Comments are showing up in the backend of my blog, but not making it to the live site. What’s the deal, Blogger? At first I thought someone had commented and then deleted their comment, but after the third time I think it’s a techno error. So, if you comment and you’re not seeing your lovely words – I’m sorry! L
–          While I’m ranting about comments…it appears that people are reading Feel Good Foodies, but we’re 33 posts in and yet to receive our first comment. What’s up with that? Does our writing suck the big one? Do the recipes look gross? If you like talking about food, give us some feedback!

–          Please excuse this shameless pat on the back, but I’ve been going to a personal trainer and it’s paying off. I feel like I look exactly the same, but today my belt buckled on the last notch! Time for a new belt, and to keep up the good work! Tax Day Shopping

Happy Tax Day! I hope by now that everyone has filed their taxes and can take the short remainder of the weekend to relax (and maybe shop!). It seems that everywhere I turn there is a tax day sale going on.

I personally took the opportunity to stock up at Ricky’s, where they’re offering an extra 15% offpurchases of $20 or more. I bought my basic restocking haircare needs but also decided to indulge in a new color for my essie collection:

Who says Friday the 13th is unlucky? I opened my email this morning and discovered that today is most definitely my lucky day, and yours too!

It appears as though BeJool.com, a site offering steep discounts on designer jewelery, has silently launched. Today I woke up to find a “Deal-of-the-Day” e-mail in my inbox. What’s the deal? A 64” string of 7mm Cultured Freshwater Biwa Pearls. Originally priced at $200, the site is offering these beauties at an 83% discount with a final price tag of $34.99 – not too shabby!
