Where to Shop in NYC This Weekend: Fab Warehouse Sale at Chelsea Market

Fab’s first-ever brick and mortar warehouse sale at Chelsea Market is going on now, and ends tomorrow!

Items are going for up to 90% off MSRP. I’ve been in the process of the most drawn-out move ever from Manhattan to Brooklyn (woo!), but I am going to try my best to get there tomorrow. We’re trying to upgrade just about everything, and our new apartment could use some serious finishing touches. Plus, I give Fab five stars in interior design.

Here are full details on the sale, belated, but there is still time!

The sale will run March 25-30

Tuesday through Saturday 10am – 8pm
Sunday 10am – 4pm

At Chelsea Market: 75 9th Ave, New York, NY 10011

For her, there will be spiffy, springy dresses, jewelry, shoes, iPhone cases and other accessories from nOir, Fred Perry, L.A.M.B., Sven, Ted Baker, and many more.

Foodie Friday: Juice for All

I’m a juice-aholic. By now, this is a well-known fact among my friends, and I receive requests for juice cleanse recommendations on the regular – I’d say about once per month.

Even if it doesn’t feel like it, Spring has sprung, and Summer is JUST around the corner! I noticed today that there are a ton of juice cleanse sales on all of our favorite daily deal sites, so I thought I’d do all you healthy-minded New Yorkers a favor and put the top ones all in one place:

Cleanses I’ve Tried

1. Cleanse:Jus By Julie

jus by julie cleanse

The deets:

  •          $99 ($200 value) for a 3-day juice cleanse + meal plan
  •          $175 ($350 value) for a 3-day juice cleanse for you and a friend + meal plans

Where to buy: Get it on LivingSocial

Thoughts: This is my favorite juice cleanse. I had a customer service snafu once, but they reached out and compensated with a free 1-day cleanse. The juices are so tasty, and they have puree in them, so you’re still getting some fiber and protein, and you don’t feel as hungry (or in some cases hungry at all) while cleansing.

2. Cleanse: Liquiteria

The deets:

  •          “Juice, Eat, Repeat” $79 ($99 value): Four cold-pressed juices per day for three days (12 juices total)
  •          Level One Cleanse: “Explore & Nourish” $118 ($147 value): Six cold-pressed juices per day for three days (18 juices total)
  •          Level Two Cleanse: “Restore & Energize” $118 ($147 value): Six cold-pressed juices per day for three days (18 juices total) – same deal as level one, but different juices
  •          Level Three Cleanse: “Deep Dive & Heal” $160 ($200 value): Seven cold-pressed juices per day for three days (21 juices total); One coconut water per day (three total)
  •          All cleanses come with One-on-one coaching session with an expert cleanse coach. They basically walk you through the cleanse and answer any questions when you pick up your juices

Where to buy: Get it on Gilt City

Thoughts: The “Juice, Eat, Repeat” is awesome for juicing rookies! Juice all day and have a nice raw dinner – it leaves you feeling so refreshed! I really like Liquiteria, but you have to pick this cleanse up in person, so it takes a little extra prepping. They have three locations: Liquiteria Chelsea, Liquiteria East Village, or Union Square

Other Available Cleanses

1. Cleanse: The Squeeze

The Squeeze New York City Deal of the Day Groupon New York City

The deets:

  •          $119 for a three-day juice cleanse ($177 value)
  •          $235 for a six-day juice cleanse ($354 value)

Where to buy: Get it on GroupOn

Thoughts: I haven’t tried The Squeeze yet, but maybe I will!  This is another ‘pick-up only’ cleanse. There are three locations: Battery Park City, Hell’s Kitchen, and Union Square

2. Cleanse: beQu Juice

The deets:

Where to buy: Get it on GroupOn

Thoughts: I haven’t tried beQu yet either, but here are some additional details from GroupOn: Recipients receive a supply of six bottles for each day of their cleanse, which includes three lemonade and three sweet greens juices that can be alternated throughout the day. Shipping is not included in this deal; beQu Juice will confirm delivery dates by email. Based on this, I would look up cost of shipping before buying!

NYC Gifts from Fab.com – Make the City Your Valentine

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, and for the procrastinators like myself, the dreary weather forecast is not boding well for our last-minute gifting. Though I’m sure that stores will be open in the city that never sleeps. City schools are open today, which pretty much dictates that NYC will be business as usual.

But, in a city of convenience it is all the more tempting to stay warm and cozy as the snow inches pile up. It’s looking very possible that cards will be homemade, and IOUs might be issued (in the form of printed online shopping confirmations, of course).

Fab.com has your back though. With fast shipping options, maybe your gift will make it to your Valentine by the end of the weekend (or sooner?). And with their adorable selection of NYC-centric gifts (swoon), I’m considering making myself my second Valentine. I’m super forgiving for late presents, especially of the NYC persuasion.

Here are some great gift ideas for your NYC lovers:

Monday Motivation: Transitioning Back to Reality

It’s Monday! This is likely one of the most difficult Mondays of the year, as we get over the long Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekend. Our bellies full and our wallets empty, it’s time to get back to work, and back to the daily grind.

I personally have thrown routine out the window lately, and after a long-weekend vacation in Montreal followed by the long holiday weekend, I am ready to reintroduce things like the gym, smoothies, and a normal sleep schedule back into my life.

Here are some links from around the web that are helping motivate me – from jumping back on the treadmill to getting the ball rolling on my holiday shopping:

  • I had this healthy smoothie for breakfast this morning. Did you know that yogurt plus oatmeal equals a complete protein? Mine was a little too thick, but still oh so good.
  • Looking for creative ways to finish up those turkey day leftovers? The Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond has you covered with some inspiring leftover turkey recipes
  • Self magazine always has my back when I’m feeling less than motivated at the gym. I think they read my mind when they pinned these 10 boredom-busting treadmill workouts on Pinterest yesterday

  • And JUST in time for the holidays, Gina Homolka of skinnytaste.com has a recipe for Skinny Cranberry Bliss Bars that I must try. These were my favorite holiday treat back when I worked at Starbucks, many eons ago

In conclusion, this Cyber Monday I am keeping the coffee flowing, and I have my gym bag packed and ready for tonight. I am motivated! How about you?

Warby Parker’s New Collection: 1922

A little over two months ago, I wrote how my desire for Warby Parker eyeglasses was pushing me to finally go back to the eye doctor and update my prescription. Boyfriend and I had a nice little shopping-in-SoHo Sunday, so I finally made it into Warby Parker to try on some specs. After trying on everything in the store, I landed on the Zagg in Tennessee Whiskey.

I am so excited about these glasses that I wish I needed them for day-to-day things, and not just going to the movies or driving a car (which I do about once a month).

I don’t necessarily consider myself a glasses kind of girl, but I was in love with almost every single style I tried on at Warby Parker. I am sad that I didn’t get to sample the new  1922 Collection, out today in both optical and sunglasses styles for all frames.

Perhaps I would have landed on the Duke

duke-optical-gold-angle Or maybe the Joplin…

Warby Parker Joplin

…Or  even the sunnies version of the Porter.Warby Parker Porter

They certainly have something for everyone, and as the dark-rimmed square frames become more and more mainstream, I can see the interwar glam styles of the 1922 Collection making their way to a hipster near you. I’m definitely considering diversifying my own sunglasses collection with one of these pairs.

What do you think, would you wear the 1922 Collection?

Kate Spade Saturday is Here

You can finally shop Kate Spade Saturday

Today I was going to air my frustrations with Kate Spade for stringing us along since October, awaiting the launch of their new lifestyle brand Kate Spade Saturday. I woke up today, looked at my iPhone before my eyes were even fully open (tell me you do this too), and to my excitement, the brand has finally launched. I am absolutely loving the half-circle bag in natural and anything in signature zig zag.

What do you think of Kate Spade Saturday? Happy shopping!

Beauty Review: Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream and its Bargain Equivalent

As beauty balm (BB) creams continue to be all the rage I have stood quietly on the sidelines, testing products and trying to find my MVP. I tested brands like Estee Lauder, Dr. Jart, etc., and finally landed on Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream.

Like all good BB creams should, Smashbox’s contender packs primer, moisturizer and foundation into one little tube, boasting broad spectrum SPF 35. Having semi-dry skin and testing it out in the winter, I do have to use extra moisturizer – but I’m banking on Camera Ready being the only product I need for my summer skin. I’m usually a light/medium in most foundations, and for this product I use the “light” tone.

It’s important to note that BB creams are intended for light coverage, so you’ll likely still need concealer for any blemishes. I still use The Balm’s Time Balm concealer under my eyes.

I was very content and ready to tell the world that I’d found my BB, when my best friend informed me that she found its drugstore equivalent.

Revlon PhotoReady BB CreamThrifty makeup minimalists, rejoice! Revlon PhotoReady BB Cream Skin Perfector, clearly made to compete with Smashbox’s BB elixir, tested equal, and for a fraction of the price ($11 compared to $39)!

My color is “light/medium” in the Revlon version. This is a huge breakthrough for me, since I’ve always been of the mindset that name brand beauty products are always worth the extra money spent. The only notable difference is that Revlon is SPF 30 rather than 35. Since I already had Smashbox, I keep that one in my makeup case at home, and the Revlon in my purse for on-the-go touch ups.

Do you have a favorite BB cream?

Event Alert: Shop Discounts in SoHo Tonight

A thoughtful friend just sent me a link to a lovely little shopping spree, scheduled for tonight. RSVP to shop the night away in NYC, with names like Kate Spade, Theory, DVF, and C. Wonder (just to name a few) offering 25 percent discounts on full-priced items.

Happy shopping!

Introducing The Hayworth Collection by Warby Parker

Somewhere around my 21st birthday I lost the ability to read highway signs until I was almost past them, and I realized that I needed glasses. The eye doctor told me that my eyes weren’t likely to change again until old age, and I took that as an invitation to buy what I thought were the most expensive, trendy frames I could find. Silly 21-year-old me. It was particularly ridiculous since I only needed specs for driving.

Now, five years later, I’m finding myself squinting at computer screens and menus more and more. My prescription has definitely changed, and I’ve been way too busy/lazy/whatever to get my booty into a doctor’s office for an eye exam. But I have been lusting Warby Parkers for months, and their latest collection, out today, may just give me the final push I need.

Introducing the Hayworth Collection:

Edgeworth in English Oak

Edgeworth in Striped Sassafras

Neville in Sugar Maple

Neville in Blue Marblewood

I love and want Warby Parkers for a few reasons:

  1. They mail you five options to test out for five days before you commit.
  2. They’re affordable: glasses start at $95 per pair.
  3. They’re a company with good purpose: for every pair sold, one is donated to a person in need.

So my goal before February ends is this: figure out my prescription, and order some WPs. The Edgeworth in Striped Sassafras is a top contendor. What do you think?

Guest Post: Style and 2013 Fashion Trends from Anya Sarre

As snow falls on New York and I crank up my space heater in my office, I can’t help but let my mind drift to spring days in Central Park. I love to go sun and people watch, which isn’t quite as much fun in cold weather and bulky winter parkas. Nationally recognized celebrity stylist Anya Sarre agrees. She and I caught up over email, and she wanted to share the trends she’s looking forward to rocking when the warm weather returns. Here’s Anya!

ASStylingI am so ready for winter to be over! I just want to break out my cute capris, espadrilles, and halter-tops. Plus, there are so many trends that I want to try for this New Year! I have been checking my favorite websites daily for new shoes, accessories, and clothing. Forever 21 and H&M have a good selection of items. StyleMint is great for casual clothing—everyday chic wear is something we can all use! ShoeDazzle is nice one stop shop for shoes, and Stella & Dot is great for jewelry. Online retailers have the best selection of funky and trendy clothes, accessories and beauty buys. You’ll always find a good sale!

Pinterest is another great website to get inspiration. I love looking at the way people style similar looks. Layering is a big thing in the fashion world at the moment. I am able to get great ideas from people who have similar styles to me. Pinterest is also great for finding fun DIY projects. I like finding ways to reinvent old items. I have made an old pair of jeans into a cute embellished pair that look brand new! This is just one example of the many projects that you can find on Pinterest.

I am really big on trying new beauty products; as a result, I have a few beauty box subscriptions. I think the best is Birchbox because they have the best brands and largest samples. Plus, they are also the cheapest! I also belong to the Allure and Cosmo beauty boxes. However, I just do not think that they are held to the same standard. If you are curious about trying one, then you should defiantly subscribe to Birchbox.

As much as I love wearing boots and coats, I am sick of sporting dull drab colors. I need to find some bright colors to make my wardrobe more vibrant. Luckily, many stores seem to putting out their new spring collections. At the very least, I will be able to pick up some floral jeans or light scarves! It may not sound like much, but it will make me feel so much better. I love Spring fashion, and I am quite ready for warmer weather!
