American Bridal Wedding Favors

Is it just me, or is EVERYONE getting engaged these days? So many of my friends are now brides-to-be, and I definitely have weddings on the brain. One of the things I’m having the most fun with is helping them pick out their wedding favors. There are so many cute options, but I think the most important thing is to choose something practical that can actually be used by the guests. You don’t want your favors to be left on the tables at the end of the night! Personalizing your wedding favors is a great way to send your guests home with a memento of one of the most important events of your life…online retailers like American Bridal offer a ton of personalized wedding favors in a variety of colors and styles to match your wedding theme perfectly! These are a few of my favorites. What do you think?

The Wait is Over- TOMS Ballet Flats are Here!

I woke up today to this lovely email: var _qevents = _qevents || []; (function() { var elem = document.createElement(‘script’); elem.src = (document.location.protocol == “https:” ? “https://secure” : “http://edge”) + “.quantserve.com/quant.js”; elem.async = true; elem.type = “text/javascript”; var scpt = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; scpt.parentNode.insertBefore(elem, scpt); })(); _qevents.push({ qacct:”p-a32YmCQzxP4ak” }); <div style=”display:none;”> <img src=”//pixel.quantserve.com/pixel/p-a32YmCQzxP4ak.gif” border=”0″ height=”1″ width=”1″ alt=”Quantcast”/> </div>

I’m so excited! TOMS are so comfortable, and stand behind a good cause, providing shoes to those in need. Their debut selection is not too shabby: leather, canvas, linen and suede flats in a decent variety of colors, with a couple fun prints. My personal favorite?

Eliana Blue Suede Ballet Flats

It may not be in the going-to-Europe-in-a-week budget, but these puppies  will make their way into my wardrobe eventually.

What do you think of the new TOMS? Happy shopping!

Bored of Birchbox? Maybe MyGlam is for you.

If you’ve read my blog in the past three months, it’s probably pretty apparent that I’m a fan of Birchbox. The element of surprise and the super-sized samples are more than enough to convince me to cough up a Hamilton each month and wait in anticipation for my package to arrive.
I was a bit surprised when other blogger reviews seemed less pleased with their monthly loot. Different strokes for different folks? Well, if that’s the case I’ve found another “stroke,” if you will: MyGlam.com. My Glam sends you a monthly “glam bag,” also for $10, which contains 4-5 full-sized products or deluxe-sized samples. Unlike Birchbox, MyGlam is more focused on makeup, and leaves the other beauty products out. You can check out the December bag here. It also looks like a cute cosmetic bag is included in every offer – a lovely added bonus for an over-organizer like me!
The site must be catching on too, because it seems they may be experiencing some growing pains. I signed up for the site last night, but was too lazy to get off my tuckus and find my credit card to complete the order. I tried to go back this morning, and it appears the small window of opportunity has closed. But fret not, you can still register to join the community, and select to be notified when subscriptions open back up.
Do you already subscribe to MyGlam? Tell me what you think!

Winter Shoes for Traveling

In less than one month I will be hopping on a plane for ten days in Paris, Prague and Copenhagen, and I am in desperate pursuit of the one pair of shoes that I will be able to wear for the entire trip, bearing in mind all dress codes, tons of walking and cold cold weather.

I’ve narrowed it down to a few options that I will try to find and try on this week:

1. Clarks Women’s Desert Boot Lace-Up Boot
The Cole Haan boots have some crazy Nike Air sole, and they’re tall so they will probably keep me warm and toasty. I think the Clarks would be a great walking shoe for the Spring or Autumn, as they’re probably not warm enough for Winter.

Let me know what you think! If you have any go to shoes for this type of trip please link me!

Win the War on Winter Skin with Microdermabrasion

In many places around the globe, winter conjures images of skiing, hot chocolate, and being bundled up in a sweater. However idyllic winter may be, though, it is also really harsh on our skin – particularly those of us with sensitive skin. Rough winds, dry heat, and dipping temperatures leave us dry, cracked, and wind-burned – not exactly the best look!
But there’s a great solution: microdermabrasion. Normally reserved for expensive spa or salon treatments, recent advances in treatments have created a new wave of products to be used in the comfort of your own home, for a fraction of the price of the spa. These fantastic microdermabrasion at home products are great for exfoliating dead, dry winter skin away to reveal younger-looking skin below the surface. Microdermabrasion has also been known to temporarily decrease fine lines, minor wrinkles, and acne scars in addition to exfoliation.
When looking for products, try browsing online at retailers like ShopNBC to weigh customer reviews and read product specifications. This will help you determine what’s best for you.  You can purchase full kits with exfoliating wands, cleansers, and moisturizers for the ultimate microdermabrasion at home experience, like the RHF DermaWand Kit pictured above. For those who aren’t quite ready for the full treatment, microdermabrasion masks and cleansers are also available. So whatever your skin type or level of commitment, get glowing this winter – without breaking the bank! – with microdermabrasion at home.

Current web obsession: Bauble Bar

As I mentioned, my friend and I attended a shopping eventfor Birchbox and Jouer Cosmentics over the weekend at A Startup Store in Chelsea. A Startup Store creates venue for online shops, so that you can go and shop the products in person. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Birchbox was not the only vendor on display!

Of particular interest, Bauble Bar had its very own corner. Bauble Bar is a website for fashion jewelry; their stock is on point with current trends and has a boutiquey feel without high markups in price. I’ve been coveting a few gems from Bauble Bar lately, and was so excited to be able to view them in person.
Here are some favorites:
Bauble Bar also has a loyalty program called the Vault, where you can earn credits with your purchases. Every $50 you or a friend you refer spends gets you one credit, and you can use your credits to redeem jewelry that is only available to Vault members.

If you’d like to sign up, feel free to use my referral link: http://baublebar.com/index.php/rewardsref/index/refer/id/33449/
My invite code is: 33449

I promise to pay it forward with a blog giveaway if I wind up racking up the credits!

var _qevents = _qevents || []; (function() { var elem = document.createElement(‘script’); elem.src = (document.location.protocol == “https:” ? “https://secure” : “http://edge”) + “.quantserve.com/quant.js”; elem.async = true; elem.type = “text/javascript”; var scpt = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; scpt.parentNode.insertBefore(elem, scpt); })(); _qevents.push({ qacct:”p-a32YmCQzxP4ak” }); <div style=”display:none;”> <img src=”//pixel.quantserve.com/pixel/p-a32YmCQzxP4ak.gif” border=”0″ height=”1″ width=”1″ alt=”Quantcast”/> </div>

My Cyber Monday Plan of Attack

Happy Cyber Monday!!! I personally enjoy Cyber Monday more than Black Friday. The deals tend to be just as good or better, and you can shop from the comfort of your personal computer. I bet there are much fewer injuries on Cyber Monday.
I know I should be ranting about all of the incredible sales today, and listing out where to go to get the best steals, but I’d like to take a different angle. Too many times I have fallen victim to temptations of killer sales. Every time I buy something that my boyfriend thinks is a frivolous purchase, I get THE LOOK, followed by, “Let me guess, it was on sale?” I like to argue and justify my buys, but he’s totally right; sales make me shop for things I do not need.
If this story sounds all too familiar, here is my suggested plan of attack for Cyber Monday:
1.       Make a list of all the people you want to buy holiday gifts for.
2.       Next to each person’s name, write down some gift ideas and stores. It can be anything as vague as “shirts” or as specific as “MacBook Air for Christina” (wink, wink). Just write it down, and then write some options for where you want to buy “it.”  (MacBook Air can be found here – more winks)
3.       Go to http://www.cybermonday.com/or http://www.cybermonday2011.biz/and search for the retailers and products. You can find discount codes and sale end dates. Some sales extend beyond today!
If you’re just shopping for yourself and not yet diving into gift buying, make a list of your favorite stores and look up those discounts.
I did some pre-browsing last night, and here are some shops I will check out:
·         Kiehls.com
$20 off $65 purchase
Promo Code: HOLIDAY – Until December 31!
·         AnnTaylor.com
40 percent off selected items
Promo Code: THANKS
·         Limited.com
50% off, plus free shipping
Promo Code: CYBER
·         Target.com
Up to 70% off until December 3
·         Banana Republic, Old Navy, Gap, and Piperlime
30% off (Banana Republic, Old Navy, Gap)
20% off (Piperlime)
Promo Code: HUGECYBER
·         Macys.com
Discounted products plus free shipping over $75
Promo Code: CYBER

Where are you finding the best Cyber Monday deals? Happy Shopping!

Help Me Shoe Shop!

I hope everyone is recovering from Black Friday and gearing up for Cyber Monday. As you relax and eat your turkey leftovers, I would like to employ your stylish two-cents!

ShoeMint is now live and taking orders! It looks like they’re debuting with a limited collection of three styles, each in two colors.
I’ve selected Jolly as my favorite shoe (the leopard wedge on the right), but I’m completely torn on which color I want. It comes in a taupe color, which is made from suede, or the leopard that you see above, which is actually pony fur! I know I’d probably wear the taupe ones more, but my wardrobe could really use more prints. I feel like everything I own is very plain lately….Which ones do you like? Please comment!
Also, I’m sending a care package to a Marine for the holidays! If you would like to send one too, please read this post to find out how!
