Foodie Friday: Juice for All

I’m a juice-aholic. By now, this is a well-known fact among my friends, and I receive requests for juice cleanse recommendations on the regular – I’d say about once per month.

Even if it doesn’t feel like it, Spring has sprung, and Summer is JUST around the corner! I noticed today that there are a ton of juice cleanse sales on all of our favorite daily deal sites, so I thought I’d do all you healthy-minded New Yorkers a favor and put the top ones all in one place:

Cleanses I’ve Tried

1. Cleanse:Jus By Julie

jus by julie cleanse

The deets:

  •          $99 ($200 value) for a 3-day juice cleanse + meal plan
  •          $175 ($350 value) for a 3-day juice cleanse for you and a friend + meal plans

Where to buy: Get it on LivingSocial

Thoughts: This is my favorite juice cleanse. I had a customer service snafu once, but they reached out and compensated with a free 1-day cleanse. The juices are so tasty, and they have puree in them, so you’re still getting some fiber and protein, and you don’t feel as hungry (or in some cases hungry at all) while cleansing.

2. Cleanse: Liquiteria

Liquiteria

The deets:

  •          “Juice, Eat, Repeat” $79 ($99 value): Four cold-pressed juices per day for three days (12 juices total)
  •          Level One Cleanse: “Explore & Nourish” $118 ($147 value): Six cold-pressed juices per day for three days (18 juices total)
  •          Level Two Cleanse: “Restore & Energize” $118 ($147 value): Six cold-pressed juices per day for three days (18 juices total) – same deal as level one, but different juices
  •          Level Three Cleanse: “Deep Dive & Heal” $160 ($200 value): Seven cold-pressed juices per day for three days (21 juices total); One coconut water per day (three total)
  •          All cleanses come with One-on-one coaching session with an expert cleanse coach. They basically walk you through the cleanse and answer any questions when you pick up your juices

Where to buy: Get it on Gilt City

Thoughts: The “Juice, Eat, Repeat” is awesome for juicing rookies! Juice all day and have a nice raw dinner – it leaves you feeling so refreshed! I really like Liquiteria, but you have to pick this cleanse up in person, so it takes a little extra prepping. They have three locations: Liquiteria Chelsea, Liquiteria East Village, or Union Square

Other Available Cleanses

1. Cleanse: The Squeeze

The Squeeze New York City Deal of the Day Groupon New York City

The deets:

  •          $119 for a three-day juice cleanse ($177 value)
  •          $235 for a six-day juice cleanse ($354 value)

Where to buy: Get it on GroupOn

Thoughts: I haven’t tried The Squeeze yet, but maybe I will!  This is another ‘pick-up only’ cleanse. There are three locations: Battery Park City, Hell’s Kitchen, and Union Square

2. Cleanse: beQu Juice

bequ juices

The deets:

Where to buy: Get it on GroupOn

Thoughts: I haven’t tried beQu yet either, but here are some additional details from GroupOn: Recipients receive a supply of six bottles for each day of their cleanse, which includes three lemonade and three sweet greens juices that can be alternated throughout the day. Shipping is not included in this deal; beQu Juice will confirm delivery dates by email. Based on this, I would look up cost of shipping before buying!

NYC Gifts from Fab.com – Make the City Your Valentine

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, and for the procrastinators like myself, the dreary weather forecast is not boding well for our last-minute gifting. Though I’m sure that stores will be open in the city that never sleeps. City schools are open today, which pretty much dictates that NYC will be business as usual.

But, in a city of convenience it is all the more tempting to stay warm and cozy as the snow inches pile up. It’s looking very possible that cards will be homemade, and IOUs might be issued (in the form of printed online shopping confirmations, of course).

Fab.com has your back though. With fast shipping options, maybe your gift will make it to your Valentine by the end of the weekend (or sooner?). And with their adorable selection of NYC-centric gifts (swoon), I’m considering making myself my second Valentine. I’m super forgiving for late presents, especially of the NYC persuasion.

Here are some great gift ideas for your NYC lovers:

Guest Post: Style and 2013 Fashion Trends from Anya Sarre

As snow falls on New York and I crank up my space heater in my office, I can’t help but let my mind drift to spring days in Central Park. I love to go sun and people watch, which isn’t quite as much fun in cold weather and bulky winter parkas. Nationally recognized celebrity stylist Anya Sarre agrees. She and I caught up over email, and she wanted to share the trends she’s looking forward to rocking when the warm weather returns. Here’s Anya!

ASStylingI am so ready for winter to be over! I just want to break out my cute capris, espadrilles, and halter-tops. Plus, there are so many trends that I want to try for this New Year! I have been checking my favorite websites daily for new shoes, accessories, and clothing. Forever 21 and H&M have a good selection of items. StyleMint is great for casual clothing—everyday chic wear is something we can all use! ShoeDazzle is nice one stop shop for shoes, and Stella & Dot is great for jewelry. Online retailers have the best selection of funky and trendy clothes, accessories and beauty buys. You’ll always find a good sale!

Pinterest is another great website to get inspiration. I love looking at the way people style similar looks. Layering is a big thing in the fashion world at the moment. I am able to get great ideas from people who have similar styles to me. Pinterest is also great for finding fun DIY projects. I like finding ways to reinvent old items. I have made an old pair of jeans into a cute embellished pair that look brand new! This is just one example of the many projects that you can find on Pinterest.

I am really big on trying new beauty products; as a result, I have a few beauty box subscriptions. I think the best is Birchbox because they have the best brands and largest samples. Plus, they are also the cheapest! I also belong to the Allure and Cosmo beauty boxes. However, I just do not think that they are held to the same standard. If you are curious about trying one, then you should defiantly subscribe to Birchbox.

As much as I love wearing boots and coats, I am sick of sporting dull drab colors. I need to find some bright colors to make my wardrobe more vibrant. Luckily, many stores seem to putting out their new spring collections. At the very least, I will be able to pick up some floral jeans or light scarves! It may not sound like much, but it will make me feel so much better. I love Spring fashion, and I am quite ready for warmer weather!

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

AWKWARD
Somewhere in the past few weeks I stumbled upon this website called SoupNextDoor, which serves as forum for foodies to host dinners or tasting events, often in their own homes. Since I’m just getting in tune with my foodie tendencies I have to admit I’m intrigued, but every time I get an email from the website I feel creeped out at the thought of entering a stranger’s home for dinner. Am I alone? Is this concept weird? I plan to keep my eye out for interesting restaurant hosted events.
Comments are showing up in the backend of my blog, but not making it to the live site. What’s the deal, Blogger? At first I thought someone had commented and then deleted their comment, but after the third time I think it’s a techno error. So, if you comment and you’re not seeing your lovely words – I’m sorry! L
While I’m ranting about comments…it appears that people are reading Feel Good Foodies, but we’re 33 posts in and yet to receive our first comment. What’s up with that? Does our writing suck the big one? Do the recipes look gross? If you like talking about food, give us some feedback!
AWESOME
Please excuse this shameless pat on the back, but I’ve been going to a personal trainer and it’s paying off. I feel like I look exactly the same, but today my belt buckled on the last notch! Time for a new belt, and to keep up the good work! And to keep celebrating small victories I guess, because the more weight I lose the more purchasing a new Spring wardrobe is justified.
SALES. It’s Friends and Family season and I’m a happy camper. A few deals you can spot today:
o   Ann Taylor –  40% off everything with code FRIENDSAF, plus 2.5% cash back with Ebates. Expires 4/22
o   Lord & Taylor – 25% off select merchandise (almost everything) with code FRIENDS, plus 3% cash back with Ebates. Ends 4/23.
o   ASOS– 70% off the mid-season sale, no coupon code required, plus 3.5% cash back with Ebates. Ends 5/1.
o   Bobbi Brown Cosmetics – Friends & Family 20% savings plus free standard shipping with orders of $65 or more, and 4% cash back through Ebates. Expires today.
o   Theory– 25% off with code THEORYFF, and 3% cash back with Ebates. Expires 4/22.
Please share any other sales in the comments!
Happy almost Friday day, and happy shopping!

Tax Day Shopping

Happy Tax Day! I hope by now that everyone has filed their taxes and can take the short remainder of the weekend to relax (and maybe shop!). It seems that everywhere I turn there is a tax day sale going on.

I personally took the opportunity to stock up at Ricky’s, where they’re offering an extra 15% offpurchases of $20 or more. I bought my basic restocking haircare needs but also decided to indulge in a new color for my essie collection:

Essie – Geranium

I also did some major damage at J Crew’s factory sale this weekend. Did you do any Tax Day shopping?

Two Sales Today

Who says Friday the 13th is unlucky? I opened my email this morning and discovered that today is most definitely my lucky day, and yours too!
My wardrobe’s best friend and my credit card’s worst enemy Kate Spade is having a lovely friends and family sale today and tomorrow – 25% off. Just enter promo code FFSPR12 at check out.
If that wasn’t enough, J Crew Factory has slashed their prices by 50%, no promo code needed. I intend to go to town on all the J Crew items I’ve been coveting. Happy Friday and happy shopping!

ShoeDazzle March Showroom

Today is expected to be a beautiful 60 degrees! Spring has been making surprise visits for the past month or so, but the anticipation for the season to truly arrive is definitely here – and retail is showing it. I’m so excited for all the bright colors and pastels that are popping up in storefronts.

While I haven’t been particularly enthused by any of the shoes in my ShoeDazzle showroom the past few months, I thought that most of the March picks were at least fun to look at. I love the feature they have where you can view your friends’ showrooms, so I thought I would share my showroom with you. Here it is in all its glory:
I’m especially a fan of Nicci and Rita. What do you think?

var _qevents = _qevents || []; (function() { var elem = document.createElement(‘script’); elem.src = (document.location.protocol == “https:” ? “https://secure” : “http://edge”) + “.quantserve.com/quant.js”; elem.async = true; elem.type = “text/javascript”; var scpt = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; scpt.parentNode.insertBefore(elem, scpt); })(); _qevents.push({ qacct:”p-a32YmCQzxP4ak” }); <div style=”display:none;”> <img src=”//pixel.quantserve.com/pixel/p-a32YmCQzxP4ak.gif” border=”0″ height=”1″ width=”1″ alt=”Quantcast”/> </div>

Awkward & Awesome Thursday: The Blues

For some reason, this week feels like it is dragging. The mid-week messy weather is totally bringing me down, and I’m wondering why Mother Nature decided to tease us with such lovely spring like weather last week. Doesn’t she know this is how people catch the Blues?

AWKWARD
  • I have about three blog posts that are 95% written, sitting as drafts. I suddenly can’t finish anything I start! Finishing these posts is my goal for the weekend and now that it’s here on the internet for all of you lovely readers to see, I have to do it, right?
  • Jamie broke my juicer this morning, and I’m totally letting it ruin my day. Juicers are expensive, and I use mine almost every day. I should probably just look at this as an opportunity to upgrade, but I so was not ready to do that yet.
  • My friend Alycia shared this interactive map from the New York Times, and I feel so uncomfortable seeing the violations of  some of my favorite restaurants. Cockroaches? No thank you. The difference between grade A and grade B is astronomical! It is good to be a knowledgeable consumer though –they need to turn this bad boy into an iPhone app.
AWESOME
  • Alycia and I went to The Smith last night for dinner. It was my first time in their ‘new’ location in Midtown East, and it was just as good as the downtown original. The Smith is officially my favorite spot for girldates. From cocktails to dessert, dinner was perfection.
  • Blogger Makenzie Horan of Design Darling launched her Design Darling Boutique today. I highly recommend hopping over there to see her selection of preppy interiors and accessories.
  • My favorite NYC salon has a Bloomspot deal today! It’s $35 dollars for a haircut, style and Moroccan Oil treatment. You really can’t beat that in NYC. I bought this last time they had a deal and LOVED it! If you purchase, make sure you schedule you’re appointment with Nick, he’s the best.
Since I’m blue (da ba di) today, here are some other lovely blues for you:
