My Top 5 Events at FNO Tonight

So I’ve been stalking FNO coverage overnight, and happened upon an awesome Village Voice article, outlining the top 21 music oriented events for tonight.
I don’t think I’ll be able to leave the office until after 8 p.m., but if I could, my top 5 events to attend are as follows (full details below the post):
  1. FOSTER THE PEOPLE. I love love LOVE this band. Even if they’re only playing one song, it is so worth the trek uptown. Plus, Patron popsicle sticks? Yes, please.
  2. Nicki Minaj. I have such a girl crush on this woman. The girl can rap – and maybe I have some ass-envy too.
  3.  Estelle. The woman can sing.
  4. Pauly D’s DJ set at DASH. I have no desire to run into any Kardashians, but I’m a closeted Jersey Shore fan and I secretly hope that where there’s a Pauly D, Vinny might follow.
  5. The Roots! This doesn’t need an explanation. And 9 p.m. on Bowery? I just might be able to swing that!
Full Event Details:
1.       Host: Lacoste
Highlights: Foster the People performs the summer anthem “Pumped Up Kicks” and DJs AndrewAndrew spin music before and after. The free Patron popsicles and complimentary cocktails should help distract from any popped collars you may see here.
Details: 608 Fifth Avenue, 6 p.m.
2.       Host: Yves Saint Laurent
Highlights: NICKI MINAJ DOES FASHION’S NIGHT OUT. Do we need to say more?
Details: 3 East 57th Street, 7 p.m.
3.       Host: Diane von Furstenberg
Highlights: Estelle performs songs off her upcoming album All of Me while the liquid energy, via complimentary drinks from the new-to-NYC caffeine chain Coffee Bean, flows. Honestly, with all the free booze FNO has in store, it probably wouldn’t hurt to take a coffee break.
Details: 874 Washington Street, 6 p.m.
4.       Host: DASH
Highlights: Apparently Jersey Shore cast member Pauly D’s wedding gift to Kim Kardashian includes a FNO DJ set at the store she co-owns with her sisters Kourtney and Khloe. If you watched any of the New York-set shows about the sisters, you’ll know that Kanye drops by the store relatively frequently. And who knows who Pauly might bring along with him. That’s some motivation, right?
Details: 119 Spring Street, 6 p.m.

5 Host: John Varvatos
Highlights: The Roots take over the tiny basement of the old CBGB for an all-out jam session with very amazing blues guitarist Gary Clark Jr.
    Details: 315 Bowery, 9 p.m.

And just for fun, this one is a crowd pleaser:
Host: Bloomingdale’s
Highlights: There’s a bit of it all here tonight. GQ and Dockers team up for an amusing three-way collaboration with Donald Glover, a.k.a. Childish Gambino. Elsewhere in the store, lo-fi dream rockers Beach Fossils perform. And if you want to get one last taste of summer, head to Fred Perry’s post, where you’ll find skee ball, beers, and music provided by DJ Oliver Stark. Winner gets two free tickets to the concert of their choice at Brooklyn Bowl.
Details: Bloomingdale’s, 1000 Third Avenue

Are you ready for FNO?

********UPDATE***********
I’m not going to map out my night ahead of time, after all. But I WILL tweet my stops and let you know of any great deals along the way. Follow @ShopHappy on twitter for updates all night!
***************************Ok lovelies – Fashion’s Night Out is TOMORROW!

It completely crept up on me this year; I’m usually researching the sales and events a month out. I haven’t mapped out my plan of assault just yet – but I’m fairly sure I’m restricting myself to the SoHo area, strictly due to the convenient location of my office. For those of you looking to neighborhood hop, it looks like VW will be carting people up and down town in style.
Like I said, I usually take a very strategic approach to FNO, stalking the website and planning an itinerary that I print out like a fashionable nerd to check off my stops along the way. This year, there’s an android app to help! I don’t know if they had this last year, because my phone wasn’t as smart, but I’m completely amped to navigate the cocktails and sales while saving some trees.
So, I’ve just downloaded this app, and I will make my very last-minute blueprint to shopper happiness today. Expect the update tonight, but in the meantime please check out the sales so you can let me know what I miss! Don’t fret if you’re not in NYC, apparently FNO is a national event. Check the map here for events in your area. Not in the U.S., or just don’t feel like schlepping in the rain for some sales and booze? FNO is an online night of shopping fun as well.
Here’s a photo of my friend Vicky and me at last year’s FNO. I was able to snag the dress on Ideeli a few months later for only $100!
